Daylight Robbery in Nairobi Sparks Public Outrage
A shocking video showing a young woman being robbed by suspected motorcycle-riding criminals in broad daylight has sparked concern among Nairobi residents.
The incident, which occurred in a busy area, reportedly saw the woman attacked and robbed within seconds while helpless onlookers watched. This brazen act has renewed fears over the rising cases of coordinated robberies involving bike-riding gangs targeting unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians along major roads in the city.
Such incidents are not isolated; in July 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) initiated a manhunt for an armed gang responsible for a series of daylight robberies targeting high-end restaurants and shopping malls in Nairobi's Westlands area. The gang employed similar tactics in both Nairobi and Watamu, Kilifi County, using concealed pistols to surprise diners and shoppers, leading to significant public concern over safety in urban areas.
Recent reports highlight that the DCI has arrested several suspects linked to these crimes, recovering numerous stolen items, including mobile phones and motorcycles. According to Nairobi Wire, five suspects were apprehended in Mathare's Kosovo area, which underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat this alarming trend of urban crime.
