Gachagua Alleges Ruto's Links to Late Zimbabwean Businessman
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made serious allegations regarding the relationship between President William Ruto and the late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo. Speaking to clergy in Boston, Gachagua claimed that Chivayo acted as a proxy for Ruto, alleging that he held and moved significant amounts of foreign currency on the President's behalf.
During his remarks, Gachagua further alleged that Chivayo utilized private planes and airstrips to transport and collect millions of dollars in cash, although these claims remain unverified. The former Deputy President also suggested a connection between Chivayo's death and the loss of access to substantial sums of money, with KSh1.5 trillion mentioned in the ongoing political discourse.
Rigathi Gachagua, who served as Deputy President from 2022 until 2023, is known for his outspoken nature and has been a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, particularly in support of Ruto's administration. His recent comments come in the wake of Chivayo's tragic death in a helicopter crash on October 1, 2026, which has drawn attention to the businessman’s controversial dealings.
The allegations come at a time when Ruto's administration is facing scrutiny over financial management and accountability. Gachagua's claims could potentially intensify the ongoing discussions about governance and corruption within the current political landscape. Chivayo was known for his involvement in various business ventures, but his connections to political figures like Ruto have often been viewed with suspicion.
