Geoffrey Mosiria Claims Defamation Lawsuit Misunderstanding
Nairobi County's Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has responded to a defamation lawsuit with an unexpected defense, claiming that his controversial remarks were aimed at a different Oga Obinna in Nigeria, not the Kenyan event organizer.
In his response, Mosiria suggested that the legal notice he received might not even be intended for him, highlighting the existence of multiple individuals named Geoffrey Mosiria in Kenya. This claim comes after he accused Oga Obinna of scripting a boxing match between local fighters Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer, alleging that Obinna orchestrated the event to manipulate its outcome. Mosiria referred to the match as a 'mchezo wa town' (town game) and stated he was aware of the supposed plan, which led him to opt out of attending the event.
Geoffrey Mosiria is known for his role in Nairobi's county government, where he has been involved in various public engagement initiatives. His recent comments regarding the boxing match have garnered significant attention, particularly due to the high-profile nature of the fighters involved and the event's impact on local youth and community engagement.
The ongoing dispute between Mosiria and Oga Obinna has escalated, with Obinna dismissing Mosiria's allegations as attempts to gain attention and spread falsehoods. He emphasized the legitimacy of the boxing match and criticized Mosiria for failing to recognize the positive contributions of the event to the community. This conflict highlights a broader conversation about accountability and transparency in local events, especially those involving public figures.
