Protests Erupt at Redeemed Gospel Church for Jahenda
Young Kenyans are gathering at Redeemed Gospel Church Buru Buru, demanding justice for Jahenda following a viral bullying incident that has sparked widespread outrage.
The protests have intensified as demonstrators insist on accountability for those allegedly involved in the bullying, which was captured in a viral video showing several women harassing Jahenda in a club restroom. The situation has drawn significant public attention, prompting a visible police presence around the church as calls for justice grow louder.
Jahenda has become a symbol of the fight against bullying in Kenya, with many rallying under the hashtag #JusticeForJahenda. The incident has not only highlighted the issue of bullying among young people but has also brought attention to the responsibilities of educational institutions and community organizations in addressing such behavior.
Riara University has confirmed that some individuals involved in the incident are students at their institution and is conducting an internal review in accordance with its Student Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, Redeemed Gospel Church Buru Buru has acknowledged that one of the women in the video is a member of their congregation, emphasizing that church affiliation does not exempt anyone from accountability. Two of the women featured in the video have since publicly apologized, with one, identified as Vanayah, expressing disappointment in herself and accepting responsibility for her actions, according to KBC.
This incident has reignited conversations about bullying and accountability in Kenyan society, with many calling for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The ongoing protests reflect a growing demand for justice and change within the community.
