Ademba Allans Challenges Jalang'o on Healthcare Issues
Kenyan youth leader Ademba Allans has publicly questioned Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang'o, regarding his political ambitions in light of ongoing healthcare challenges in the constituency.
Allans criticized Jalang'o after spotting him in a luxury car, contrasting this with the reported lack of emergency maternity care for pregnant women in Mugumoini Ward. He highlighted that the Lang'ata Sub-County Hospital closes at 6 PM due to a shortage of night-shift staff, despite signage indicating it operates 24 hours. Additionally, he noted that patients have been directed to private pharmacies for essential medicines, a problem that has persisted since January 2026, raising concerns about the adequacy of healthcare services in the area.
Ademba Allans is known for his activism as the founder of the TUKO KADI movement, which focuses on youth empowerment and social issues. His recent comments come at a time when he is urging Jalang'o to prioritize healthcare needs before pursuing a Senate seat, emphasizing that constituents require tangible solutions rather than mere representation.
Jalang'o, a popular media personality turned politician, has faced scrutiny regarding his effectiveness in addressing local issues since his election. He acknowledged the challenges in healthcare, stating that it is a devolved function managed by the Nairobi County Government, and mentioned that three nearby health facilities provide 24-hour services. However, Allans insists that immediate action is necessary to address the pressing healthcare concerns in Lang'ata.
The ongoing dialogue about healthcare in Lang'ata reflects broader issues within Kenya's healthcare system, where access to quality medical services remains a challenge, particularly in underserved areas. As the political landscape shifts with upcoming elections, the performance of local leaders like Jalang'o will be under increased scrutiny from constituents like Allans.
