Gachagua Alleges Plot Against Kindiki After By-Election Loss

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that there is a plot to “eliminate” Deputy President Kithure Kindiki following the United Democratic Alliance's (UDA) defeat in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

Speaking after the by-election, Gachagua claimed the loss had sparked tensions within the ruling camp and warned Kindiki to be cautious, urging him to “come back home” if he finds himself in trouble. He also referenced his own fallout with President William Ruto, alleging he had survived previous assassination attempts.

Rigathi Gachagua is a prominent political figure in Kenya, known for his tenure as Deputy President and his leadership role in the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP). He recently celebrated a significant victory in the Ol Kalou by-election, where his party's candidate, Sammy Kamau Waweru, won decisively against UDA's Samuel Muchina Nyaga, securing 35,440 votes to Nyaga's 5,450.

The Ol Kalou by-election was seen as a critical political showdown between Gachagua's DCP and President Ruto's UDA, with the outcome reshaping the political landscape in the Mt Kenya region. Gachagua's comments about Kindiki come amid rising tensions within the ruling coalition, which has faced criticism following the by-election loss. The political dynamics in Kenya continue to evolve as Gachagua embarks on a "Thank You" tour across Ol Kalou Constituency to express gratitude to the voters.
