Jaguar Steps Up to Support Actor Onyi's Rehabilitation

Kenyan musician and politician Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, has committed to supporting actor Onyi through a three-month rehabilitation program. Following this period, Jaguar plans to work with Onyi’s wife to assess his readiness to either return to acting or find alternative employment to help him rebuild his life.

Onyi, who gained fame for his role in the popular show The Real Househelps of Kawangware, recently made headlines after appealing to Jaguar for help as he faces significant financial struggles. His situation has been compounded by depression, which reportedly began in 2022 after he lost his job abruptly, leading to a lack of savings and limited support.

Charles Njagua is not only a well-known musician but also served as the Member of Parliament for Starehe Constituency until 2022. In March 2023, he was appointed as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Arts, and Sports by President William Ruto, highlighting his ongoing influence in both the entertainment and political spheres in Kenya.

The broader context of Onyi's struggles has sparked public concern, with Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, also stepping in to offer assistance. Mosiria emphasized the need for a comprehensive understanding of Onyi's needs before proceeding with plans to support him, indicating that financial aid alone may not be sufficient to address his challenges.
