Kenyans Frustrated by Voter Registration Access Issues

A section of Kenyans has expressed frustration after claiming they are unable to access or verify their voter registration details through the online platform.

Many users have taken to social media reporting difficulties retrieving their registration information, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming electoral processes. This situation has arisen during a routine upgrade of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's (IEBC) ICT systems, which has temporarily suspended online voter services, including voter search, transfers, and updates.

The IEBC is responsible for overseeing the electoral process in Kenya, ensuring free and fair elections. Recently, the commission has been in the spotlight due to its efforts to enhance the reliability, security, and performance of its digital services, as the country gears up for future elections.

While online services are currently unavailable, the IEBC has assured the public that physical voter registration services are still operational at 290 constituency offices, Huduma Centres, and the Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi. Kenyans have been urged to verify their voter details in person at these locations during the system upgrade period. The commission will notify the public once the maintenance exercise is complete and online services are restored.
