Ruto Commissions Raila Odinga's Mausoleum in Bondo
President William Ruto is today leading the official dedication and commissioning of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's mausoleum at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, as Kenya approaches the first anniversary of his death.
The mausoleum, constructed by the Kenya Defence Forces, will serve as Raila Odinga's final resting place and a heritage site documenting his life, political journey, and contributions to Kenya. The October 7 ceremony is restricted to invited guests due to limited space, while members of the public will be allowed to visit the mausoleum from October 8. A larger public commemoration is planned for October 15 in Bondo.
Raila Odinga, a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013 and has been a key player in the country's political landscape for decades. Known for his advocacy for democracy and social justice, Raila's influence extends beyond politics, making him a significant figure in the hearts of many Kenyans.
The commissioning of the mausoleum is a poignant moment for many, as it reflects on Raila's legacy and the impact he had on Kenyan society. President Ruto's involvement in the ceremony underscores the importance of Raila's contributions to the nation, despite their political differences. The upcoming public commemoration on October 15 is expected to draw significant attention, bringing together various political leaders and citizens to honor Raila's memory.
