Vybz Kartel and Sidem Öztürk Expecting First Child
Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel and his fiancée, Sidem Öztürk, have announced they are expecting their first child together, delighting fans with the surprise reveal during a performance at Reggae Land UK.
The announcement came at the Milton Keynes National Bowl, where Kartel was headlining before a crowd of over 65,000 fans. In a lighthearted moment, the Jamaican hitmaker told the audience to 'read between the lines' before performing his 2009 hit 'Come Breed Me.' He then placed his hand on Sidem’s baby bump, confirming the pregnancy and sending the crowd into cheers.
Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, is a renowned Jamaican dancehall artist who has been a significant figure in the music scene for years. He has been incarcerated since 2011 but was released on July 31, 2024, after the UK Judicial Committee of the Privy Council quashed his conviction due to juror misconduct. His engagement to Sidem Öztürk, a social worker from London, came shortly after his release in August 2024.
Prior to the announcement, Kartel had a touching reunion with his children and fiancée during a 'family day' at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Jamaica in December 2023, marking a significant moment as it was the first time he met his grandson. The couple's recent engagement and the pregnancy announcement have generated a wave of congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
