DCP Party Senators Make Bold Statement in Parliament
DCP Party senators from the Mt. Kenya region turned heads in Parliament after arriving in matching suits featuring the party’s signature green, white, and red colours. This coordinated appearance comes just days after DCP's victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, with supporters hailing it as a show of unity and confidence within the party.
Following their recent success, the senators' matching outfits were interpreted by many as a bold political statement ahead of the 2027 General Election. The DCP Party, led by the newly elected Sammy Kamau Ngotho, aims to solidify its presence and influence in the region, which has traditionally been a stronghold for other political parties.
Sammy Kamau Ngotho, who won the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election on July 16, 2026, is known for his grassroots support, having garnered 35,440 votes against UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah, who received only 5,450 votes. Ngotho's victory was seen as a significant achievement for the DCP Party, particularly after local residents rallied to support him by contributing Ksh 10 each to purchase a new suit for him following derogatory remarks about his appearance earlier in the campaign (Nairobieleo).
The DCP Party's recent victory and the senators' coordinated appearance reflect a broader political strategy to present a united front as they prepare for the upcoming elections. The political landscape in Kenya is currently characterized by intense competition, particularly in the Mt. Kenya region, where various parties are vying for influence and support. As the 2027 General Election approaches, the DCP Party appears determined to assert its position and connect with voters through such symbolic gestures.
