Edgar Obare Wins People’s Choice Award at the First Africa Digital Influencer Awards
Edgar Obare has collected the People’s Choice Award from the inaugural Africa Digital Influencer Awards (ADIA20), receiving his trophy this weekend at Konza Technopolis.
The win was first announced at the ADIA20 Awards Night on Sunday, December 20, 2020, a virtual ceremony that Africa Digital Leadership streamed on YouTube.

Recognising 2020’s digital influencers
Billed as “a first of its kind in Africa,” ADIA20 recognised digital influencers who “used their talents on digital platforms to inspire and impact the society positively in Kenya and Africa in the year 2020,” Tech-ish reported. It ran across 20 categories and was sponsored by Safaricom, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and the Konza Technopolis Development Authority.
Edgar was one of 19 winners. Others included Eliud Kipchoge for fitness, Betty Kyallo for TV and online, comedian Crazy Kennar, Flaqo Raz, who was named Disruptor and Influencer of the Year, and activist Boniface Mwangi, Khusoko reported.
Trophies at Konza
Winners were hosted at Konza Technopolis to receive their trophies. Kilome MP Thaddeus Nzambia, Konza Technopolis Development Authority CEO John Tanui and Chris Bitti, principal and co-founder of Africa Digital Leadership, were among those at the event, Kahawatungu reported.

The award follows Edgar’s win as Blogger of the Year at the 2020 NRG Fan Fave Awards in October.
