Edgar Obare Crowned Blogger Influencer of the Year at the First Pulse Influencer Awards
Edgar Obare has been named Blogger Influencer of the Year at the first-ever Pulse Influencer Awards in Kenya.
Pulse Kenya held the ceremony at the PrideInn Azure Hotel in Nairobi, Youth Village reported. It was part of the maiden edition of the awards, which Pulse staged in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal on Saturday, October 9, 2021, according to Pulse. The awards were powered by Showmax.
Decided by the public
Voting ran from September 20 to September 26, 2021. Pulse dedicated the blogger category to writers “excelling at not only sharing the stories that are important to them, but also using their blogs as a channel for networking, community and connection.” Edgar went into the final round against Biko Zulu and Wanjiru Njiru.

A snapshot of the public poll taken during voting showed Edgar on 81.16% of the vote (14,366 votes), far ahead of Biko Zulu on 7.2% (1,275 votes) and Wanjiru Njiru on 2.53% (448 votes).

The night’s other winners
Pulse Kenya recognised 22 winners. Abel Mutua took YouTube Influencer of the Year, Crazy Kennar won the Comedy, Facebook and Instagram categories, Njugush was named Business Influencer of the Year, Nikita Kering won Music and Boniface Mwangi took the Twitter award.
The award adds to Edgar’s People’s Choice win at the Africa Digital Influencer Awards earlier this year and his NRG Fan Fave Blogger of the Year title in 2020.
